- Title: Short SC7 Skyvan The Short Skyvan first flew in 1963 and was partly based on high aspect ratio wing research conducted by the Miles company. Initially powered by piston engines, it was quickly converted to Aztazou turboprops, and latter Garrett turboprop engines.
The Skyvan had its origins in the Miles Aerovan, the concept of which was taken on by Short in a radically overhauled design. The high aspect ratio SC.7 Skyvan prototype flew with Continental piston engines, but it was decided that turboprop power was required, so the prototype and early production (Series 2) examples were ultimately fitted with Astazou II turboprops. These engines were not ideal for hot-and-high conditions or American customers, however, so the Series 3 was upgraded to the specified Garrett type. In all, 149 Skyvans were built and sold to commercial freight/passenger 'bush' operators and military/paramilitary This sole example of the Skyvan sold to the Sharjah Amiri Air Wing was delivered in 1986. It was also the last Skyvan build completed. operators up until 1986. The Skyliner was a dedicated passenger-carrying version. A three-view drawing (689 x 818) |

'Pepe' Pertti Lehtinen | Sven, e-mail, 11.12.2010 11:48 Now, THAT'S how a plane should look. Would prefer more pointed-streamlined nose and more range, 450kms is a bit, er, short, perhaps one could mount some extra tanks in the roofline if the load allows, 900kms would be brill, saving much time. Small but load-worthy planes like this are very practical, they can fly-in-and-out of just about anywhere, making it the Transit of the skies. | T. Today, the corporation produces aircraft for the entire spectrum of the passenger air transportation market, with a capacity of 100 to 500 passengers. The line of business aircraft is represented by three generations of the BBJ model, as well as the company's flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The brand’s history began in 1916 when the young William Boeing, together with his friend military engineer George Westervelt, designed and launched his first B&W seaplane.
A year later, the Boeing Airplane Company was already in full swing, starting to fulfill its first military orders. The production employs 337 employees, including design engineers, carpenters and seamstresses, who were indispensable in the design of an aircraft with a wooden fuselage and linen wings.
With the development of private aviation, the company began to develop a series of long-range business jets, comparable in comfort to personal planes of sheikhs and presidents, but surpassing them in terms of efficiency.
The result in 1996 was a joint venture between Boeing and General Electric, dubbed Boeing Business Jets.

The main advantages of BBJ aircraft were spacious cabins, almost 3 times the size of other business aircraft of the same price category, as well as the flight range, which allowed non-stop flights from Paris to Los Angeles and beyond.
